A portion of the Overseas Territory of South Ister has been ceded to the Republic of Humanytaria.
The Treaty of Sovereignty Transfer and Mutual Recognition between Humanytaria and South Maudlandia was signed yesterday evening, after prolonged negotiations between the governments. The treaty, which came into effect early this morning, ceded the southern half of South Ister to Humanytaria, while ensuring Humanytarian recognition of South Maudlandian sovereignty in the northern half.
Humanytaria’s initial claim to the whole of South Ister allegedly predated that of South Maudlandia’s by little over a week. Discussions between the nations commenced two weeks ago, but were suspended temporarily due to the Pannonian War. After negotiations were re-opened, President Phillips and his Humanytarian counterpart, President Radia I, agreed to split the land in half, with each nation receiving roughly 0.15km² by land area.
President Phillips commented on the recent cession, stating the importance of keeping the peace.
“Relinquishing territory was an unfortunate, but necessary, decision. The last thing our nation needs is another war”, he said.

You knows our goal – this lends must stay untouchable Natural Park and any resident and humans activity here is completely unacceptable. Additionally, I highly doubt that any form of Hungarian or Bulgarian authorities recognise your legitimacy over the area. For all I know, I may be descended from Belgian royalty. That doesn’t mean I go around pretending I’m the King of Belgium.
